This One is Important – Message from Rev. Don Gotham

Lent is one of the church seasons which most excites me. I believe I find Lent to be so exciting because it leads up to Easter, but there is more about Lent that excites me. In the Lenten season, we get to focus on the person of Jesus is some of the most impacting ways. In Lent, we focus more closely on the heart of why Jesus came.

This coming Sunday is called Transfiguration Sunday. I think for many of us, the name attached to this Sunday on the Christian calendar is a bit confusing. Still, tied up in the event which occurred on that mountain are some of the most revealing clues to the story of how God intends to redeem humanity.

Further, this account from scripture illuminates the importance of Jesus in the eyes of God, the father.

A.W. Tozer once wrote, “Jesus does not offer an opinion, for He never uttered opinions. He never guessed; He knew, and He knows. His words are not as Solomon’s were, the sum of sound wisdom or the results of keen observation. He spoke out of the fullness of the Godhead, and His words are very Truth itself.”

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday when we will dig into this passage from Matthew 17:1-9.

Grace and Peace,
Rev. Don
