Endowment Fund

UTICA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ENDOWMENT FUND

What is an Endowment Fund ?

An Endowment Fund is a separate pool of money where the principal is invested and only the income is used.

What is the purpose ?

The Endowment Fund is created and exists solely for the purposes of UUMC, with its principal objectives being the promotion and development of religious, charitable and educational activities, and for other non-recurring purposes not regularly budgeted by UUMC.

Why have an Endowment Fund ?

To allow stewardship to go beyond the offering plate to help fund:

  • Evangelism

  • Ministry

  • Mission

  • Education

  • Capital Improvements

This will enable UUMC to fulfill the ministry dreams of our Church Family for present and future generations.

Where does the money come from ?

The Fund will receive and hold all gifts made to the Church from sources such as bequests, gift annuities, insurance policies, trusts, other planned or deferred arrangements, and other undesignated cash gifts.

Who will oversee it ?

5 member elected board with fiduciary responsibility for the fund.
Standard 3 year term with not more than  one term expiring per year.
One member would serve on the Church Coordinating Council.

Who can answer my questions?

The task force members are  Pastor Bill Donahue, Bill Browning, Bill Bauer, Kathaleen Funkey, Ed and Barb Kubes.

Leviticus 27:30

And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is Jehovah's: it is holy unto Jehovah.

2 Chronicles 31:5

And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel gave in abundance the first-fruits of grain, new wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.

Malachi 3:10

Bring ye the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough [to receive it].
